Pioneer Village

The pioneer village is made up of log buildings that were constructed from logs salvaged from old houses and stores in Washington County.

The village includes a cabin, jail, blacksmith shop, school, church, carpenter shop and loom house. These buildings are open at various times for tours. The village green around which the buildings are placed is an important setting for activities related to Salem’s annual Old Settlers’ Days in September.

Also in the village is the general store from New Philadelphia, its shelves still displaying old-time containers that would have been seen in stores the early part of the 20th Century.
